Project Description
For this assignment we took a dive into how social media impacts our personal lives and society too.
Social Media Addiction Survey
My Results: You have a HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP with social media - well done!
Congratulations! Psychologists estimate that as many as 5 to 10% of Americans meet the criteria for social media addiction today. But luckily, that's not you! Not checking social media every few minutes doesn't make you feel anxious, as you prefer to live 'in the moment' rather than through your apps. You use social media to your advantage, at work and to connect with friends and family, but you know when to put it away. Keep it up!
I think the results are accurate. I try to not chronically be on my phone 24/7 and they way my life is set up it helps me succeed in that. I can always improve of course, but i think i am in a good place with my social media use right now.
100%
Interesting Social Media Statistic
For the interesting stat I chose the percentage of people who have used certain social media apps.
This graph caught my eye because of the YouTube statistic. If you look at where it starts to climb up at, its right when covid first struck in late 2019. Everyone was at home by early 2020 and it keeps climbing. I was part of that group for sure. YouTube was my most watched streaming service during covid and still is.
Social Media's Impact on Society
Social medias imapact on society is interesting to say the least. What started as a way to express yourself online has turned into people becoming totally diffrent people online than they are in real life. This can be good and bad. I think one of the big things people forget about social medias impact is that virtually a every platform can be used as a tool. You can make money, promote buisnessess, engage in healthy conversations, etc. There are many negatives to social media but there are more positives. Once you learn to make social media work for you it can be whatever you want or need it to be.
Lessons Learned
I learned that I have a healthy relationship with social media and a lot of other people dont. Social media has become an adiction for some people and its not talked about enough.
