Welcome to the public section of the ECE 6050 course official site!
This is your required source of information to the course Advanced Microprocessor Applications, offered by the ECE Department. In this course, we will primarily be focusing on various aspects of memory systems design, interfacing to multi-processor bus systems, and hardware/software co-design. The design projects will be based upon the hardware/software co-design concept for contemporary System-on-Chip (SoC) programmable logic devices. Industry standard development software by Xilinx will be used to design, simulate and implement digital systems. ECE 6050 is a core concentration area course for students majoring in the Master's in Computer Engineering program. Your instructor this Spring is Dr. Janos Grantner.
Starting with Week 1 students are required to have the software as follows:
The current, free Xilinx Vivado and Vitis Editions. Students can obtain these programs free of charge from the Xiliwebsiteite.
Starting with Week 2 students are required to have the hardware as follows:
Zybo Z7-20 Board (Xilinx Zynq 7020 All Programmable System-on-Chip - AP SoC) and Nexys A7 Board by Digilentinc:
These boards are available through the WMU Bookstore. Students may also purchase them through on-line vendors.
Large Solderless Breadboard:
These boards are available through the WMU Bookstore. Students may also purchase them through on-line vendors.
Miscellaneous Electronic Parts for Projects:
These parts are available through the WMU Bookstore. Students may also purchase them through on-line vendors. Details are given here.
