In 2020 Covid-19 forced people globally to stay inside their homes in fear of contracting this virus. While not deadly to most, people were able to carry this virus for an extended amount of time and pass it along to the elderly or other at risk people who would then suffer. The amount of hospitalizations and deaths grew around the world. Arguments about healthcare, freedom and wealth could be heard everywhere.
This prompted me to think of a passage I read a while ago by Jean-Jacques Rousseau. His writings started the "Eat the Rich" slogan that can be seen all over social media. I felt moved by the passage, thinking about how something written so long ago could be so relevant in today's society. I illustrated this in one sitting, albeit a very long sitting. I guess it goes to show that times may change, but people rarely do.
