This junior seminar will cover theoretical and empirical research on multinational finance, focusing particularly on the cultural influence. Some other areas of international finance, such as cross-listing, are also likely to be discussed. Students will be expected to participate actively in class, to understand how culture plays a role in multinational finance, and to complete a final paper that include sound empirical analyses. The student(s) who are able to complete the paper with high mark may be invited to co-author for a publication. English reading and writing is compulsory. The intermediate corporate finance is a prerequisite.

Introduce and analyze major economic events in the form of special topics, and interpret these events using economic theories and methodologies. The economic topics cover modern macroeconomics from the perspective of development of economic theories and structural economics. In particular, it thematically introduces pivotal economic events — spanning both global cases and China-specific developments and conducting in-depth analyses of these events by leveraging economic theories, with particular integration of the latest advancements in the field of international economics. This design ensures that students not only grasp the context of major economic phenomena but also develop the ability to apply cutting-edge theoretical frameworks to practical economic analysis.

This course introduce concepts and tools in investment analysis. The Textbook used in the class is “Essentials of Investments” by Bodie, Kane and Marcus. Topics covered include: the basics of investment, efficient market hypothesis, portfolio analysis, risk return trade off, arbitrage pricing theory, the valuation of common stocks, various fixed-income markets and instruments, and investment performance evaluations. Students will be expected to participate actively in class, to prepare a presentation that applies class knowledge to discuss a listed firm, and to write a report that conducts the financial analyses.

This course studies the economy as a whole. It will include such topics as GDP, unemployment, inflation, exchange rate, and other macroeconomic indicators. AD-AS model, economic fluctuations and economic growth, open economy, monetary policy, and fiscal policy will also be covered. Students will be able to apply some macroeconomic models to analyze some economic policies and predict the possible economic trends after learning this course. The textbook used in the class is “Principles of Economics” by Frank, Bernanke, Antonovics, Heffetz.

Economic topics covered two parts of economic theory development and economic practice. The former focus on the form of the new development in the field of modern economics, such as the current view of the recent development of the game theory, incentive and mechanism design theory, company governance theory, gaming industry economics, tourism industry and economic development, economic growth theory, new institutional economics, economics frontier; the latter on the form of thematic introduced the current world and China important economic events, and the use of economic theory to make an in-depth analysis of the economic events. Covered topics will be in the context of globalization, prerequisite knowledge including (1) International economics (important), (2) Public economics, and (3) Development economics.
