Welcome to AI Fish Identifier, a mobile application developed by JanoGroup LLC.
AI Fish Identifier helps users identify fish species using artificial-intelligence-powered image recognition. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how images are processed, and what choices you have.
By downloading, accessing, or using AI Fish Identifier, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
AI Fish Identifier does not require you to create an account or sign in to use the app.
We do not directly collect personally identifiable information such as your name, email address, phone number, or physical address unless you voluntarily contact us for support.
When you take or upload a photo for fish identification, the image may be processed using artificial intelligence to generate an identification result.
Depending on your device, app version, and technical requirements, image processing may occur in one of the following ways:
On-device processing: If supported, image analysis may happen locally on your device.
Cloud processing: In some cases, your image may be securely transmitted to our cloud systems or third-party AI service providers for the sole purpose of generating the fish identification result.
Images submitted for identification are used only to provide the requested app functionality. We do not sell your images. We do not use your images to personally identify you.
Where cloud processing is used, images are transmitted securely using encryption in transit. Images are not stored longer than reasonably necessary to provide the identification result, troubleshoot service issues, prevent abuse, comply with legal obligations, or maintain app functionality.
The app may store certain information locally on your device, including:
Past fish identification results
Species names and related fish details
Date and time of identifications
Confidence scores or AI-generated result information
Favorite or saved identifications
Optional notes or tags you add
App preferences and settings
This information is generally stored on your device unless a cloud-sync or backup feature is introduced and disclosed separately.
You can delete locally stored app data through the app’s settings, by clearing app data on your device, or by uninstalling the app.
If you purchase a subscription, free trial, or other in-app purchase, payment is processed by Apple, Google, or the applicable app marketplace.
We do not collect or store your full payment card information.
We may use third-party subscription management services, such as RevenueCat, to help manage subscription status, trial eligibility, entitlements, purchase validation, renewal status, and access to premium features.
Subscription-related data may include app user identifiers, purchase status, product identifiers, renewal information, and platform transaction data.
We may collect limited usage, analytics, crash, and performance information to help us improve the app. This may include:
App launches and session activity
Features used within the app
Number of fish identifications performed
Device type, operating system version, and app version
Crash logs and performance diagnostics
General interaction and error data
This information helps us improve reliability, fix bugs, understand feature performance, and prevent abuse.
Where available, you may control analytics or diagnostics permissions through your device settings or in-app privacy settings.
If the app includes ads, advertising partners may collect or receive certain device and usage information to show ads, measure ad performance, prevent fraud, and comply with legal requirements.
This may include device identifiers, approximate location inferred from IP address, ad interaction data, and app usage information.
You can manage ad tracking preferences through your device settings, including Apple’s App Tracking Transparency controls or Android advertising ID settings, where applicable.
We use information collected through AI Fish Identifier to:
Provide fish identification results
Display species information and app features
Manage free usage limits, premium access, subscriptions, and trials
Save identification history and app preferences
Improve app performance, reliability, and user experience
Diagnose crashes, bugs, and technical issues
Prevent fraud, abuse, excessive automated use, or attempts to bypass limits
Respond to user support requests
Comply with applicable laws and platform requirements
We do not sell your personal information.
AI Fish Identifier may rely on third-party services to operate, improve, and monetize the app. These may include:
AI and image-processing providers for fish identification
Apple App Store and Google Play services for downloads, payments, refunds, and subscriptions
RevenueCat or similar services for subscription and entitlement management
Analytics and crash-reporting providers
Advertising networks, if ads are shown in the app
Cloud hosting or infrastructure providers
When third-party services are used, they may process information according to their own privacy policies and data-processing terms.
We take reasonable steps to work with service providers that use appropriate security and privacy protections.
Local app data, such as identification history and saved results, may remain on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
Images submitted for identification are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain security, troubleshoot issues, prevent abuse, or comply with legal obligations.
Analytics, diagnostics, subscription, and purchase-related records may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary for business, legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, and platform-compliance purposes.
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information processed through the app.
These safeguards may include:
Encryption in transit using HTTPS/TLS
Secure cloud processing where applicable
Limited access to operational systems
Device-level storage protections where supported
Security measures provided by Apple, Google, and other platform services
However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
You should keep your device protected with a passcode, biometric lock, and updated operating system.

Do not rely solely on the app for:
Fishing regulation compliance
Protected or endangered species determinations
Food safety or toxicity decisions
Medical, veterinary, ecological, legal, or scientific decisions
Commercial, research, or enforcement purposes
Always consult official local fishing regulations, wildlife authorities, field guides, or qualified experts when accuracy matters.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
When we make changes, we may update the “Last Updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the app, app-store listing, or another reasonable method.
Your continued use of AI Fish Identifier after changes become effective means you accept the updated Privacy Policy.
