Hello everyone, and welcome! I am so happy you are all here. For those who already know me, feel free to navigate around.
For those who are still getting to know me, here is a bit about me. Outside of school and work, I absolutely love to code, coach, exercise, and spend a lot of free time with my pup! Currently, I am living in the Bay Area. I moved here mid-September of 2020. I completely enjoy being a homebody, but also like to go out sightseeing whenever I get the need to get out of the house. Since I first moved here, I’ve worked as a Paraeducator and Wrestling Coach at Tamalpais High School from 2020 to 2025. At some point, I was working on a Dual Credentialing Program at Dominican University to specialize in special education and mathematics in 2022; however, I decided to switch my focus to programming. Currently, I teach online classes at Copper Mountain College and Merced College and in person at Mission College. You can learn a bit more about me in the sections below. But other than that, there is always something new to do and enjoy! I wish to meet you all soon, digitally or in person. I hope you all had a great school break! Talk to you soon!
As mentioned in the section above, outside of teaching, I absolutely love to code, coach, and exercise. Most of my programming experience is self-taught. I took my first set of coding courses in 2021 at Mt. San Antonio College after I received my degree at Cal Poly Pomona. Since then, I have been able to really pick it up and enjoy it. From personal experience, I really found my groove and began to learn "how to learn" how to code when I started coding from books. This is mainly due to their linear nature in objective learning. While the internet can be rich and abundant with information, I often found myself getting distracted away from learning the fundamentals and often felt like I was getting (somewhere but mainly) nowhere. This can be true for everything else! That is why school and college courses can be very helpful. They help us and force us to finish specific topics from start to finish.
As for coaching, I am the head coach for wrestling at Tamalpais High, a local public high school in Marin County, CA. This year will be my first year running the program as the head coach. I started as an assistant coach in late December of 2020, which ended up being modified due to the pandemic. My two main physical training experiences come from playing division one in both track and wrestling at CSU-Bakersfield for 5 years and from being a personal trainer for one at one of the UFC gyms in LA county. I truly believe in structured learning and definitely believe that sports, physical fitness, and other competitive hobbies can be one of the best vehicles that can teach other valuable life lessons outside of school learning. Whether it's personal training or coaching high school wrestling, I enjoy seeing people grow and improve beyond their doubted measures. I see teaching the same way! I believe in elevated learning environments and structured learning. Both Tamalpais HS and community colleges are full of experts and you will truly enjoy the fruits of everyone's specialty.
However, while it's great doing things for others, I also try to set some personal time for myself once or twice a week. I do this by either visiting new lively markets or exercising. Just getting away from any computer/cell phone screens and distracting my mind away from work is always a well-needed self-rewarding practice. Gym-wise, I tend to be less intensive. I normally try to do 20-30 minutes on the treadmill, nature jogs, or try to do some light kinesthetics. Also, the little guy that you see in all of my pictures - that is my guy! His name is Crunchy and he is a 8-year-old mixed Chihuahua. He was rescued from the dog shelter about 3 years ago. He is absolutely great and adorable! But also definitely lacks the ability to run.
In June 2016, I earned my B.A. degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Economics at CSU-Bakersfield. While attending CSU-Bakersfield, I had a great experience working with Bakersfield’s Community Development City Department - Planning Division as a Planning Intern. Soon after completing my degree at CSU-Bakersfield, I took part in Cal Poly Pomona’s Economics Graduate Program in 2016. In Fall of 2018, I started instructing part-time at Copper Mountain College teaching both Principles of Microeconomics and Macroeconomics. In Spring of 2019, I completed Cal Poly’s M.S. program in Financial Economics and I currently instruct at Copper Mountain, Merced, and Mission College.
