I am also one of the creators involved in the Mathemalchemy project: over 30 mathematicians, artists, and fabricators, who, under the leadership of Duke mathematical physicist Ingrid Debauchies and Montreal-based fiber artist Dominique Ehrmann, worked together to create a large multimedia art installation that celebrates the creativity and beauty of mathematics.

For this project, I wrote the story of Tess the Tortoise, who goes on a journey and learns about infinity.

Tess's shell was created by ceramicist Elizabeth Paley, and her body was knit by mathematician Kim Roth.

You can learn more about the Mathemalchemy project on its website, and via the video below.

There's a Mathemalchemy comic book, written by Juniata College biology professor and author Jay Hosler and his son, Maxwell Hosler, who graduated from Wooster University with a degree in mathematics. You can currently download versions of it in English, French, Dutch, or Italian.

Tess plays a big role in the comic!
