Vermont Seal of Biliteracy

What is the Seal of Biliteracy?

The Seal of Biliteracy is an award to recognize students who have attained proficiency in English and any other language(s), by high school graduation. In Vermont, the Vermont Foreign Language Association (VFLA), has partnered with the Agency of Education to award students who demonstrate these proficiencies.

When was the Seal of Biliteracy first implemented in Vermont?

The Vermont Seal of Biliteracy was first approved in 2018. Soon after, world language teachers Elaine Leibly and Keri Bristow worked on a pilot for their school district and invited other schools to join the pilot, for the 2019 graduating class.
