Jeroen (1980) earned diplomas in Music Theory, Violin, Viola, and Choral Conducting from the Conservatorium Maastricht, the Lemmens Institute in Leuven, the South Netherlands School of Music, and the Utrecht Conservatory. He combines his passion for music and education in his current roles as a teacher at the Stedelijke Academie voor Kunsten in Maaseik, conductor of the choral group Cantitare and the Vocal Ensemble Pro Cantione in Genk, and chairman of the Flemish Federation for Young Choirs.
As a freelance violist, Jeroen has collaborated with renowned orchestras such as the symphony orchestra of De Munt, Brussels Philharmonic – VRO, the Brabants Orkest in Eindhoven, and the Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège. His performances have taken him to prestigious venues, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, and Carnegie Hall in New York.
Throughout his career, Jeroen has participated in masterclasses for violin and chamber music with instructors such as Kati Sebestyèn, Zigmund Kowalski, Freddy Arteel, Donald Oehler, and Benjamin Rawitz. He received choral conducting training from Anne-Marie Cabut, Kari Ala-Pöllänen, Michael Gohl, and Denes Szabo, and studied orchestral conducting with Edmond Saveniers and Patrick Davin.
As a conductor, Jeroen has achieved numerous career highlights. These include working with British composer and conductor John Rutter, conducting the French youth choir La Cigale de Lyon during a concert in Örebro, Sweden, and leading performances with the Hungarian choirs Cantemus and Pro Musica. Additionally, he has conducted major works such as the Requiems by Haydn and Mozart, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and Karl Jenkins’ Stabat Mater.
