Energy infrastucture & Biodiversity

I am currently investigating the impacts of different energy infrastructures (from production to transmission) including hydroelectric damns, solar farms, wind turbines and high-voltage power lines on bats and arthropods.

Agriculture & Biodiversity

I aim to (i) assess the effectiveness of different conservation measures to promote biodiversity in agricultural landscapes, and (ii) understand the ecological processes - from local to landscape scales - driving biodiversity patterns in farmland. My work mainly focuses on temperate and Mediterranean agro-ecosystems.

Ongoing collaboration: Kirsty Park (University of Stirling), Sándor Zsebők (Hungarian Institute for Ecology and Botany) .

Forest management & Biodiversity

I aim to (i) understand how forest structure and composition shape animal distribution within forest ecosystems at different spatial scales, and (ii) provide adequate management recommendations for biodiversity conservation in forest. My work mainly focuses on temperate lowland and mountain forests.

Soundscape Ecology

I am highly interested in tackling key biodiversity-related research questions through the prism of acoustic, by studying  the acoustic diversity as a major component of biodiversity.

--

I am currently collaborating with Dr Luc Barbaro (INRAE, Toulouse) on the effects of landscape heterogeneity and habitat management on acoustic diversity.

I am also part of the leading team of the "Silent Cities" project, with Dr Samuel Challéat (CNRS, Toulouse), Dr Amandine Gasc (IMBE, Avignon) and Nicolas Farrugia (IMT ATlantique, Brest).  This collaborative and international project aims at documenting the changing soundscapes in urban areas worldwide during the early stage of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Species ecology and conservation

Passionate by wildlife & nature conservation, I dedicate some of my time in gaining better knowledge on the ecology of species of major conservation concern.

In collaboration with many European bat researchers, I am currently co-leading with Nia Toshkova (Museum of Natural History, Bulgaria)  the "EuroBaTrait" project aiming at building a species-level trait database of bats occurring in Western Palearctic.
