These turned out so cute! This was such a fun and simple project to make.
I originally created it using paper plates, cardstock, and clear plastic plates. Later, I came across a “make your own snow globe” kit online and thought it was adorable—but I didn’t love the price or that the pieces were thin paper (according to the reviews).
So, I did a little online searching to find exactly what I wanted, and here’s what I came up with!

Have students draw a straight line slightly below the halfway point on the ornament.
Using acrylic paint markers:
Color above the line with a blue marker
Color below the line with a white marker
Paint the top “cap” of the ornament with a silver marker
Teacher Tip:
The white acrylic paint marker wasn’t bright enough for me, so I went over it with white acrylic paint to make it pop. This step is optional, but it made a big difference!
That’s it for Day 1! We stopped here to let everything dry completely—and because it was time for recess. And let’s be honest… we teachers need recess just as much as the kids! 😉
Have students use a purple glue stick to glue their picture onto the ornament.
Give each student three snowflake stickers and let them place them anywhere they’d like.
Important Note: Be sure students do not place stickers around the edges of the ornament, or the dome will not attach properly. Ask me how I know… 🤣 🥴
Place a small spoonful of artificial snow in the center of the ornament.
Peel off the sticky strip from the dome and carefully attach it to the ornament. I did this step for my class to make sure the dome was sealed correctly.
Finally, add a cute ribbon—and you’re done! So cute. So simple. Such a fun project!
