My Vision for Franklin

Sustainable Growth that respects the environment it needs to thrive. Being mindful of policies around water use, energy use, deforestation and stormwater management is essential to realizing the impact of development. I believe there should be incentives to encourage builders to implement strategies that go above and beyond current bylaws and regulations to provide a resilient and sustainable future. At the same time, open space and parks should be preserved for all to enjoy.

Downtown that is re-imagined, bringing new life to the heart of the Town. Repurposing vacant and decrepit buildings and infilling under-utilized lots will help create a continuous fabric of storefronts and pedestrian activity at street level. By proposing zoning by-law changes to entice builders and providing incentives to small-business owners, we can begin to create a destination for our own residents and those in nearby towns.

Development that is thoughtful and future-ready. Every new subdivision, apartment complex, and condominium taxes our schools and infrastructure. We must ensure proposed development is sustainable – bringing value to the Town in a way that is not detrimental to the current residents, environment and community at large.

Changing Demographics will influence my response to our needs, for both current and future residents. We have an aging population and a growing diversity of people, so we must provide more housing (including affordable) for all. We must also respond to the need for family-friendly, appropriately scaled housing to attract the next generation of families and working professionals.

Ultimately, Franklin is a Town we are all proud to live in now, and for the foreseeable future. It’s where we tell our friends they should move to. It’s where our families age in place. It’s welcoming to businesses and residents of all ages and lifestyles. It’s a vibrant destination, yet a quiet community full of distinguished history and character. Let’s put Franklin’s future first.
