I am a mother of two, and a registered architect with ample planning experience. These two identities are a perfect match to represent you and your family's interests on the Franklin Planning Board. As an architect, I have worked for over 15 years on diverse projects and studies. I have extensive experience in new construction, renovations and additions, feasibility studies, and master plan efforts. My expertise in understanding the built environment, the construction industry, design and regulatory processes, and the impact of work on communities would provide valuable insight as a member of the Planning Board. As a mother, I want to set my family up to thrive as they grow up in a family-friendly Franklin.
I've been an associate member for over a year. Having experience being on the Board has been invaluable. Understanding the process, jargon, and importance of this commitment is a differentiator. It is a responsibility I don't take lightly. As an associate member, I can only vote if/when another voting member has to recuse him or herself. I want the ability to be a full-time, voting member, to be able to have more of an impact on the decisions made.
Franklin’s Planning Board oversees development in Town in a few different ways: reviewing special permit applications, evaluating subdivisions, and studying proposed changes to zoning by-laws. Having qualified members on the Board, who have only the best intentions for the families of Franklin, is essential to ensuring forward-thinking development that considers where the Town is heading in the next ten, fifty, and one hundred years.
Please feel free to send me your thoughts and ideas at the Get Involved page!
Why Me
I am not a developer or real estate agent. I am a qualified professional in the industry, with extensive planning experience.
I bring a new point of view, a diverse perspective and a demographic not currently represented by the voting Board members.
I bring educated decision-making with an unbiased view about the future of the community.
The only property I own in Franklin is my own home, so I have no ulterior motives nor financial interests at stake to sway opinions as projects and policies are put in front of the Board.
My Experiences
Being involved in the Planning Board has provided me with experience within Franklin, as a committed volunteer whose opinion is considered with projects put before the group. To understand the Board and its processes, there is no better way to become engaged than to by doing it yourself. My goal now is to become a full-time voting member, so I can have a larger impact.
Being on the Board of a nonprofit organization, aimed to help a diverse group of high school students make steps towards a career in the construction industry, has given me a greater understanding of the broader community, region and impact we can have on young lives.
Being able to help young women grow into strong, successful individuals while prioritizing teamwork was exciting. I felt I was helping instill values important to their long term development. Plus, I was able to meet more wonderful people in Town! Skills learned through team sports, including communication and leadership, are part of what I will bring to the Planning Board.
Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital is one of the top rehabilitation hospitals in the world. I spent years raising money for this organization, which went to running programs such as adaptive sports for children. With a disabled sister, and having spent so much time understanding the challenges of those less physically abled, I have a deep appreciation for daily challenges they face. I believe our Planning Board has the ability to impact policies around housing and development that address the needs of a growing disabled population.
