Macroinvertebrates

Today we were collecting macroinvertebrates. I went to my stream and I was expecting to find a lot but I was only able to collect three stoneflies. I did the proceedure about ten time around my stream. I tried in the faster riffles and even in slower and deep parts of my stream as well. My last time trying it I was able to find those three stoneflies attached to my net. I also caught a small salamender early in my sampling which was really cool to see and also freaked me out because of how much it moved. I looked at my data sheet and I didn't see that on it so I don't think it counts. I get really freaked out by bugs and the macroinvertebrates so I felt nervous when taking my samples but it was also nice to go out of my comfort zone. On saturday we talked about how the floods could've made it harder to find macroinvertebrates because they were sent down stream. My sample section is higher up in the stream so I think that could be the cause.
