Best Teaching Assistant Award at UTRGV. May 2024
"Ms. Gregory was an amazing math professor. She always helped when we were in need and she truly loved all her students. She cared more about her students than most principles’ do for their school. I will always remember her."

I estimate I have taught over 4,300 students and 150+ classes. I began teaching 30 years ago in 1996, long before I started my Ph.D. in number theory. My experience ranges from special education to university courses and everything in between. Since 2021, I've taught nearly 400 students at UTRGV. I know and love teaching.
Why did I become a math teacher? I discovered my passion for mathematics in 10th grade when I took Honors Geometry and was introduced to proofs. My teacher instilled a love of the beauty of mathematical reasoning and the process of logically building upon fundamental truths to prove something indisputably correct. This class sparked my lifelong enthusiasm for teaching mathematics.
My transition from secondary public education to teaching at UTRGV has been a rewarding journey. One of the most fulfilling parts was my time at the Mathematics and Science Academy as part of the Unversity of Texas Rio Grande Valley, where I worked with talented and dedicated dual enrollment high school students.
Through teaching, I help students see the world in new ways. Oliver Wendell Holmes said, "Once your mind has been stretched by a new idea, it will never regain its original dimensions." It is my job as a math teacher to expand the minds of my students.
Now, 30 years later, as I work toward my Ph.D., I continue to feel the same excitement and curiosity. I look forward to the years ahead of continuing to share the beauty of mathematics with my students.
