Jehu King is a dynamic leader, policy advocate, and strategist dedicated to driving meaningful change in his community and beyond. As a senior at KIPP, Jehu has consistently demonstrated a commitment to service, leadership, and equity, embodying the principle that access and opportunity should be available to all.
With a deep passion for politics, economic empowerment, and youth advocacy, Jehu has served in various leadership roles, including Student Body President, President of his local Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter, and a delegate for the Boys and Men of Color Strategy. His work has taken him from school government meetings to lobbying at the state and national level, where he has championed policies that support youth engagement, financial literacy, and educational equity.
Jehu is the founder of Econ Upward, a financial literacy initiative aimed at equipping young people with the knowledge and tools to navigate economic systems and build generational wealth. He is currently developing workshops, partnerships, and content to expand the reach of Econ Upward both virtually and in-person.
Beyond his leadership in policy and finance, Jehu has a growing presence in public speaking and mentorship. As the first-ever Mister Bold City, he used his platform to address economic disparities and advocate for young Black men and women. He also founded A Touch of Elegance, a program that prepares students for pageantry, professionalism, and personal development.
His dedication has earned him a place on the National Youth Advisory Board for Y-USA, where he contributes to shaping national and global strategies for YMCA programming. His advocacy efforts have led him to work with organizations such as Minds Without Borders, KIPP, and various city councils, further reinforcing his belief in youth empowerment and civic engagement.
Academically, Jehu is pursuing a future in Political Science, with aspirations to work in public service, policy strategy, and governance. He has been accepted to prestigious institutions such as Morehouse College, Florida A&M University, Morgan State University, and Florida State University, while awaiting decisions from Johns Hopkins, George Washington University, and George Mason University. With a strong desire to minimize financial burdens, he is actively seeking scholarships to make his education more accessible.
In addition to his policy work, Jehu is also a creative thinker and writer. He is currently working on his book, "The Weapons Forged Against Us," a project that delves into systemic barriers and resilience within marginalized communities. He welcomes mentorship and feedback on his early chapters as he refines his message and impact.
As he prepares for the next chapter of his journey, Jehu remains committed to pushing boundaries, breaking barriers, and ensuring that every young person—regardless of background—has access to the opportunities they deserve. His mission is clear: to be a catalyst for change, an advocate for the underserved, and a leader who uplifts and empowers others.
