Project: Clinician Symposia

The Symposia were created to further establish Empath Health clinicians as thought leaders within a center of excellence and to foster relationships with community partners.

"Jeannine Lyons was instrumental in making the 2019 and 2020 Physician Symposia a high quality experience for all who attended. There are so many details involved in pulling off a medical conference – including multiple speakers, food, materials, marketing, facilities, and the documentation necessary to issue CME and CEU credits – but Jeannine never lost track of any of these. These Symposia represent Empath Health’s re-entry into educating partners and community members about EOL and Palliative Care since the Suncoast Institute wound down and was closed. It is critical for Empath Health to become known again as the expert in Hospice and Palliative Care – and these Symposia are our first step in that direction.

Jeannine helped us establish from scratch an infrastructure capable of hosting an organized educational event; learnings we will be able to use for subsequent similar events. We reached about 50 external clinicians, from over 10 different health care organizations, so Jeannine’s work allowed for us to share our knowledge bravely in service to our community. We also had about 50 Empath Health staff attend; which can only help to increase the quality and consistency of the care we provide to our patients."
