The objective of this project is to resign a common household item using Solidworks. Make improvements and then run FEA analysis such as the drop test, motion analysis, and thermal analysis.
Our group chose to redesign a manual handheld coffee grinder, a popular tool among coffee enthusiasts. Through research, we identified features that consumers appreciated and aspects they wished to improve. We focused on three key design enhancements:
1. Handle Ergonomics: Introduced a collapsible, longer handle to improve ease of turning and user comfort.
2. Grind Size Adjustability: Increased the number of grind size options, providing a minimum of three levels to cater to diverse brewing methods.
3. Material Durability: Incorporated durable materials like ceramic and stainless steel to enhance resilience and longevity.
The updated designs were created in SolidWorks, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) was conducted to validate the performance and durability of the modifications. The CAD models are presented below.
