Jean-Paul Dubeuf, born October 6, 1956 in La Tronche in Isère, is a French agronomist, zootechnician and agro-economist. He is currently a researcher at INRAE, UR SELMET-LRDE in Corte (Corsica), ACT department (Sciences for Action and Territories). This site up dates all his writings, activities and interventions.

Biography

After a degree in agricultural engineering obtained in 1977 at ENSAM in Montpellier, he specialized in animal science and later in economic analysis at the University of Dijon (DEA in 1979).

After his studies, he joined the Agrarian Systems and Development Department (SAD) of INRA and their researches on the development of cattle breeding in the Equatorial Environment of Guyana between 1981 and 1982.

After a brief experience in the animal feed industry as an experimental manager followed by an experience in marketing, he worked for the French dairy cooperation as a Consulting Engineer at the Technical Bureau of Dairy Promotion (BTPL) where he provided 10 years of management and advisory functions in dairy farming.

With this experience, he has been recruited in 1995 as Scientific Director of CIRVAL (International Center for Resources and Information in the sheep and goat dairy sectors) from 1995 to 2007 in Corte in Corsica. During this period, he led several scientific and professional networks and developed exchange platforms as well as engineering tools for the dissemination of information in the Mediterranean in partnership with the FAO, the CIHEAM and the International Dairy Federation.

He then joined the LRDE, Research Laboratory on Livestock Development of INRA (Sciences for Action and Development- 1) ; in 2021, this unit joined the UMR SELMET “Mediterranean and tropical livestock systems” whose headquarters are in Montpellier.

From 2004 to 2012, he became Vice President and then President of the International Goat Association and developed his expertise on livestock development processes on a global scale. He then became "Associate Editor" of Small Ruminant Research, the IGA scientific journal published by Elsevier.

Its research and expertise activities are diversified and multidisciplinary. They are dedicated to the challenges of sustainable development of livestock breeding then the agro-ecological transition with a focus on pastoralism, the breeding of small ruminants in the Mediterranean and their role in favor of vulnerable rural populations (Development of agro diagnostics – ecological aspects of pastoral farms):

He has carried out numerous expert missions and participated in several research projects (ANR MOUVE, ANR MEDINNLOCAL) with Southern Europe (Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece), the Maghreb and the Middle East (Morocco, Tunisia). , Egypt, Lebanon, Turkey) as well as in Rajasthan (India), Nepal, Senegal, South Africa and Mexico; since 2022, he is a member of the Executive Committee of the PRIMA PASTINNOVA Project on innovation for Mediterranean pastoralism

Carrying out expertise missions and participating in research projects in Southern Europe (Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece), Maghreb and Middle East (Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Lebanon, Turkey) as well as in Rajasthan (India), Nepal, Senegal, South Africa and Mexico; collaborations with FAO, IFAD, CIHEAM, the International Dairy Federation (IDF / FIL) and several Spanish (SEOC, IFAPA, University of Seville, NEIKER), Italian (Agris-Sardegna, CNR ...) or Brazilian (EMBRAPA) organizations.
