Professional Learning Specialist
With more than three decades of experience in North Carolina public education—primarily within the Wake County Public School System—I have dedicated my career to advancing educational excellence, strengthening instructional practices, and supporting both students and educators in achieving their highest potential.
A native North Carolinian, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary English Education from East Carolina University and a Master of School Administration from North Carolina State University. My professional journey has spanned a variety of roles, including English teacher, assistant principal, high school administrator, district leader, and professional learning specialist, and most recently, a coach for EL Education on the Partnership Experience Team.
As a school administrator, I focused on curriculum and instructional leadership, the development of effective Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), and innovative school design. I played a key role in implementing the Academy model and founded a STEM Academy of Energy and Sustainability, helping to expand opportunities for students through specialized, real-world learning experiences.
At the district level, I served as Senior Administrator for Secondary English Language Arts, where I led the implementation of ELA curriculum across middle and high schools. I was instrumental in launching a comprehensive high school ELA program and supporting the integration of EL Education practices across middle schools—work that strengthened instructional coherence and improved student outcomes.
As a professional learning specialist and instructional coach, I contributed to the development of a districtwide instructional coaching model and supported schools in building strong, collaborative PLCs. I continue this work today as a coach and professional learning specialist, partnering with educators and leaders to implement high-impact instructional strategies, foster meaningful collaboration, and promote equitable learning opportunities for all students.
My most recent work has been with EL Education. At EL Education, I have been working as a coach and professional learning specialist, supporting schools in New York City, Philadelphia, and Massachusetts. I offer in-person coaching with teachers and school leaders as they implement the EL Education model.
Throughout my career, I have remained committed to continuous improvement, leadership development, and the belief that strong systems and collaborative cultures are essential to student success.
