Highlights
⭐Fall Festival (October) – the biggest PTA party of the year including costume party, maze, slime making, face painting, games and prizes.
⭐October Visiting Artist – a special assembly with performing artists (Flamenco Latino) in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
⭐Make it Happen Night - volunteers helped to prep decorations for the PTA's biggest event of the year.
⭐Care Package Drive – in partnership with Bethel Baptist Church, a goal of collection of 100 items was met and then donated to the church for distribution during their food pantry.
⭐Fall Picture Day – students and staff take pictures with Irvin Simon Photography, sales raise money for PTA events and activities.
⭐Operation Santa – gift collection on behalf of two families in need, for the holidays.
⭐Nutrition Workshop – Coach Wright from Vaughn College spoke to parents and students about healthy eating habits and practices.
⭐Uniform Raffle – giveaway incentive for parents who completed the PTA survey. Two parents from the survey collection were selected as winners.
⭐Teachers Coffee Station - the PTA started the new year by re-stocking the coffee station in the teachers' lounge.
⭐Fitness Workshop – Empress Cece hosts a Soca Aerobics class for parents. The PTA provided refreshments, water and childcare.
⭐Holiday Concert Drink Station - the PTA provided beverages for families during our annual holiday concert.
⭐Paint and Chew – parents and students created artwork in honor of Black History Month. PTA provided supplies, and refreshments.
⭐Teacher Wish Lists - the PTA provided a variety of school supplies to our teachers.
⭐Holiday Candy Grams - staff and students share treats and well wishes in one of our most successful fundraisers.
⭐ February Visiting Artist - a special assembly with a performing artist (April Armstrong) in celebration of Black History Month.
⭐Science Fun Day – done in collaboration with the Queens Botanical Gardens, families made their own potpourri sachets, lava lamps and ice cream; and explored the concepts of magnetism and density.
⭐Mental Health Workshop – facilitated by the school’s social worker, Elizabeth Coffin, parents will learn about stress, it causes and ways to manage/relieve its effects.
⭐Audio Equipment - the PTA purchased a wireless microphone set and mic stand for the school.
⭐Build-A-Buddy – students pick their own stuffed animals to make from scratch and get to design a shirt for their new friend.
⭐Care Pouches – PTA donated hygiene pouches filled with toiletries for older students.
⭐Thanksgiving Potluck – PTA provided paper goods and drinks, as well as supplies for a piñata demonstration during the school’s multicultural activity.
⭐Jag Swag Shop – the PTA sponsored this mobile incentive store where students can cash in Jag Bucks (distributed by teachers for actions they deem worthy) to buy cool items, supplies, etc). *debuts in the 2020-21 school year
