Since 2014, KIOSK and Materna IPS USA Corp. have partnered on some of our self-service projects in North America. These projects were for self-service kiosks and self-bag drops. What we have done, from the Citrix Workspace app kiosk settings (Device Mangement > Chrome > App Managment) find the appropriate OU and disable power management by moving the slider to the left so that "Allow app to manage power" was not selected.

I am possibly having the same issues as OP. Using Acer CXI3 Chromebox with G-Suite management and have all the settings configured that smcgill recommended. However, when the Workspace app launches as a kiosk app it seems to ignore all those settings and puts the Chromebox to sleep after 15 minutes of inactivity. If a user was logged into a desktop session during that inactivity, they are disconnected and have to fully log back in. I would prefer that the Windows desktop session just time out their inactivity with a Windows lock screen!

I interrupted the Workspace kiosk app launch and confirmed the Chromebox will sit there without sleeping. It just seems that the Workspace app is ignoring the "disable power management" and idle settings.

We are having an issue with leaving kiosk mode on Android 11 devices. We do the 6 long presses as we do not want to remove the policy from the device. Once that has been done we enter our passcode to leave Kiosk mode and the screen flashes straight back to Kiosk Mode.

Hi there, so I have deployed a Kiosk Mode policy on some Android Enterprise Devices, fully managed. I first created a Android Enterprise Device Policy then enrolled some brand new android devices at initial setup, as per the instructions. it went well. then I added to my device policy the Kiosk Mode configuration, with the selected app, then I synchronised from Central. It went through as expected, the devices switched to kiosk mode with just the app and you could do nothing else.

Problemen is I wasn't able to remove or deactivate the Kiosk Mode configuration: I tried removing the Kiosk Mode configuration from my device policy and then synchronising, but the synch task doesn't go through. When you click on Tasks in Central Mobile, yhou see the sync task listed with a, orange status saying approved or on hold, but never Success. I tried creating a new Device Policy without Kiosk Mode in it then applying that policy to the devices, but no success there too, still stuck to kiosk mode. I even deleted all policies and the devices too, removed them from Central Mobile, still they are stuck on Kiosk Mode.

I think this is something around the way the touchscreen is handling a click and drag touch event. There may be some modes in either Wayland or the mir-kiosk system that can work on it, they have a pretty active github issue tracker for both.

We went down this same path for a few weeks on our production kiosk HMIs (running Ubuntu Server 22.04) but found the wpe-webkit-mir-kiosk browser to be buggy. Especially, we found that the app would crash every time an operator tried trending - specifically when trying to use the drop-down menu to change the date span (minute, hour, day, etc.). Other drop-downs resulted in similar experiences.

I was thinking of doing a comparison to the firefox and chromium waylnad snaps to see what they brought to the table, I definitely don't think that the mir-kiosk is the perfect solution, but it is easy for simple use.

Agreed. The frequent crashes of mir-kiosk made it a non-starter, even though the ease-of-installation/configuration/use was a huge benefit. Firefox has, so far, proven to be more stable, albeit far more complicated to configure. Recent Ignition versions include updates to Java, and recent Perspective Workstation versions include updates to JxBrowser, of which supports Wayland. When time allows...I intend to dabble...
