Tingkap Umah represents a door, specifically the window of a house door.
I created it by combining different mixed materials to recreate the feeling of the wooden windows and structures from the village houses I remember from my hometown. The piece is meant to evoke a sense of nostalgia, reminding people, especially those who grew up in similar environments, of their childhood memories in the countryside.
By assembling materials that may not naturally belong together, Tingkap Umah explores how seemingly unrelated objects can form a layered visual space. Some materials are everyday items, some are industrial or found, while others carry personal meaning. When placed side by side, they create a sense of dreamlike overlap, much like the way memories are formed and remembered.
Tingkap Umah is not just a reconstruction of a physical space. It is also an emotional window into a blurred and shifting reality. It reflects how the past and present can quietly merge, how textures and forms can recall feelings we thought we had forgotten. Each element plays a role in shaping a space that is both intimate and surreal, inviting viewers to reflect on their own ideas of home, memory, and belonging.
