Lab Research:
Our research aims to better understand the mechanisms of production, secretion and the roles of volatile compounds in fragrant, aromatic and medicinal plants. Three groups of plants used in the perfume industry are more particularly studied: roses whose epidermal cells emit fragrance, labiates (lavender, sage) and pelargonium that emit VOCs through glandular trichomes.
My Topics:
I am working on genes and alleles involved in VOCs biosynthesis. I am also interested in their evolution during the evolution of different genus but also during domestication events. In parallel, I am also working on the characterization of cell shape of secreting cells by microscopy. This topic led me to consider excretion mechanisms of VOCs and to assay new techniques of imaging.
