Hello Mavericks, my name is Jasmine Boddie! This is my tenth year in education and my sixth year here at Manvel High School as the US History team lead! I am excited to be teaching United States History again this school. I grew up an army brat and have lived in both Virginia and North Carolina, finally settling in Baytown Texas in junior high. I have a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Lamar University. I also have a master's degree in Education Administration from THE Prairie View A&M University. I have a wonderful husband Leonard and together we have two beautiful children Lynnden (12) and Lathan (7). I am extremely excited to learn and grow with you all this year!

Hoka Hey!!!

In the curriculum area of Social Studies, students are expected to analyze multiple perspectives, recognize the impact of issues, and evaluate ways society has changed over time, both in positive and negative ways.

As teachers facilitate discussions about such issues, students are encouraged to use both primary and secondary sources to help understand multiple perspectives on issues, and to use objective tools in their analysis. Discussions on Social Studies topics are focused on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), and are to be conducted in a manner respectful to all participants.

If you have any questions regarding topics in Social Studies, we encourage you to email or contact your student’s teacher, and to refer to the Social Studies TEKS developed by the Texas Education Agency.
