For this assignment we were to describe the impact of social media on society and the student themselves.
I am fairly reliant on social media. Based off my results, I 100% agree with it. As much as I want to say I'm not on social media a lot, that would be a lie. I used to check it every morning after waking up, now I don't. However, I do still check my phone notifications.
In my opinion, social media to some can have a negative impact. Age, race and your overall mental state plays a role in how social media is influenced. There are times when I'm scrolling and a post makes me laugh so hard and immediately after, that next post can make me so sad. It's really all in how you interpret things too. Some people are on the internet so much it brainwashes them into behaving a certain way.
These stats show the different age groups that use specific social sites on a regular basis. I'd say when the research was conducted it was pretty accurate. Me personally, I haven't used snapchat in years but when TikTok became popular I instantly was consumed by it. Not many people my age have a Facebook. I think it's more of an older age group's most used platform.
I learned that my time spent on social media is fair but can be reduced. At times social media can be a happy place with lots of laughter then after a while of scrolling you can get too deep into a post and enter a depressive state. I think it all depends on how you utilize it.
