The United Health Group fell victim to a ransomware attack by a gang call ALPHV or Black Cat. Ransomware threatens to delete or publicly expose a victim's stolen data unless money is paid to the thief. This breach affected pharmacies and hospitals around the country. Attacks such as this can be prevented by using firewalls, anti-virus scanner, and keeping all computers up to date.

Michael Payne was arrested for credit card fraud and 7 accounts of identity theft. Identity theft is when hackers assume your identity and start to open new bank accounts under your name. A victim of the theft contacted the Criminal Investigations Divisions of DPD after noticing unauthorized transactions from her Khol's account. Once the police found Payne, they also found a notebook of several other victims of identity theft.

I learned that there are so many ways people can take your information and use it to their advantage. When you put your information online anyone can be able to access it. With the knowledge I now have about privacy and security, I know a few ways to prevent being a victim of any type of hacking or any othe threats.
