Welcome to my personal web.
I am Deputy Director General Economics at the Banco de España and a member of the Eurosystem’s Monetary Policy Committee.
I also serve on the Board of Trustees of the Instituto Complutense de Estudios Internacionales and on the Editorial Board of Hacienda Pública Española.
Within the Banco de España, I have held senior positions spanning monetary policy, international economics, fiscal policies, and macro forecasting.
In this capacity, I have contributed to other key Eurosystem bodies, including the International Relations Committee (IRC) and the Working Group on Public Finances (WGPF).
Prior to joining the Banco de España, I worked at ...
the European Central Bank, Frankfurt am Main.
the Universidad Pablo de Olavide, Seville.
the centrA research foundation (Spanish regional administration), Seville.
the ERISTE-ICAE forecasting team, Madrid.
the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, where I obtained my Ph.D. in Economics with distinction.
My current analytical agenda ...
examines how uncertainty, as well as geoeconomic and geopolitical forces, shape the environment for monetary policy and the role of the public sector within it.
This agenda is driven by a commitment to addressing real-world challenges.
I regularly publish on these topics and discuss my research at national and international policy and academic forums, also with students at selected courses and conferences.
