The Javanese Cownose Ray (Rhinoptera javanica), otherwise known as the Flapnose Ray, is a large ray found in shallow marine and brackish coastal waters in the Indo-West Pacific. They are members of the Myliobatidae Family, which are commonly referred to as Eagle rays. These rays are foraging predators, some experts hypothesizing that in large numbers, they contribute to a decrease in local shellfish populations in the Indo-West Pacific. The IUCN classifies these rays as Endangered due to overfishing.
