In honor of the amazing legacy of VanDevender, an exceptional leader and advocate for the youth in Jasper County, we are proud to introduce the VanDevender Scholarship. VanDevender graduated from San Houston State University and worked for the Texas AgriLife Extension Agency for over 25 years. She spent the last 20 years here in Jasper, diligently working to help educate the community on healthy living and working with 4-H clubs. She profoundly impacted the lives of countless 4-H members within our community as she consistently went above and beyond for club members.
VanDevender's selfless commitment to her family, county, community, and 4-H clubs serves as an enduring inspiration. She lived her life exactly as the 4-H motto calls, with loyalty and a life of service for her club and community.Â
VanDevender died in 2024, and the VanDevender Scholarship is a testament to her extraordinary contributions and aims to support deserving students in their pursuit of academic excellence and community engagement.
