The story starts in late 2032, after the nuclear war which occurred between the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and the Asian Continental Military Force. All civilizations across the world were destroyed within minutes as hundreds of millions were incinerated in nuclear fire and billions more died from the radiation sickness, anarchy, and horrid living conditions which ensued. Most of the world had been turned into a radioactive wasteland, but as humans so often do, they survived this war albeit as an endangered species with a tendency to kill itself off over the smallest things. During this time, the United State Civilization Preservation Force was created, followed by the Civilian Defense Front. The USCPF are dedicated to eliminating the mutant threat, restoring the American civilization back to power, and to rebuilding the once great nation of America. The CDF was formed a few years after the creation of the USCPF. The goals of the CDF were simply to protect and aid civilians.
Deep Winter
The year is 2039, 7 years after the nuclear exchange, or "Flash" between the ACMF and NATO occurred. Soot blotted out the Sun. There is no food. Everything is cold. Everything is hostile. For all intents and purposes, this is a separate universe from the main story. The only reason this is so, is because Southside can't exist in both. In this universe, Southside is just a rural town in Georgia. Fort Shad is just an average military fort. The Den is just a post-war settlement. This alternate timeline still contains everything that happens in ATF1-3 & 5

Taking place in 2067, in Rockport, Florida. shortly after the nuclear winter. Sandstorm showcases the rise of humanity.
After The Flash: Rain
Before the war ended, in late 2032, Pearl Harbor had become a strong source of naval power for the US military. The region of land at the end of the Middle Loch in the harbor, between the Farrington Highway and the Queen Liliuokalani Fairway, had become a medium sized military industrial city between 2020 and 2032. The Leeward Community College had developed many new buildings for Naval Drone Specialization and Coast Guard Specialization.
This small portion of Pearl City was hit by two nuclear warheads, both very near its west side. The portion of the city nearest to the Leeward Community College and the Masterson Shipyard remains fairly untouched, barring the fact that it's periodically and unpredictably flooded, leaving portions of it covered entirely in eroded sand.
When the ACMF bombed Pearl City, they had advanced in technology; preparing during the heat of the oncoming war, creating larger bombs. (As of 2017, the Topol(SS-25) series or the Dong Feng-5 series would have been used to generally eliminate Pearl City, because there are hundreds in stock and they are practical for combat use; the downside is that even a bomb of 10kt would have completely demolished Pearl City anyway.) The smallest bomb the ACMF would have had would be impractical (though still would have demolished the city completely). The point of this is that, regardless of location, two warheads that the ACMF could have practically used would have destroyed EVERYTHING in the area, and most of Oahu (as in, no building would left standing, the water would stay poison, and the air would be poison for 174 more years).
Since electricity is only supplied to essential machinery, electronic music and instruments have faded from the norm since the war. Music genres such as swing, jazz, and post-modern jukebox have made a comeback in the hearts and souls of Americans in the 2090s.
After The Flash: Deep Six
In 2032, the war between the Asian Continental Military Force (ACMF) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) ended with a nuclear exchange. The nuclear fallout and smoke drove the planet into nuclear winter for the first decade.
The decades following 2032 were catastrophic. Most crops couldn't grow under the cloud cover. Families and friends were forced to fight each other just to have a few less mouths to feed. Structures built before 2032 decayed and rotted. It became an everyday occurrence to see skeletons lined up along the roads. The world governments were powerless in the wake of total and utter economic and agricultural collapse.
As soon as the late 2030s and early 2040s, organizations began popping up that sought to revive the world and build a new utopia on top of the ashes of the old one. Over the following decades, the frigid landscape slowly warmed and the radioactive clouds dissipated. This was it. This was the chance America had long been awaiting.
Around the 2070s, international trade was reintroduced. Although many nations and regions are still focused on rebuilding their infrastructure and staying out of a civil or conquest war, some corporations have gathered the resources needed to start shipping goods across the seas again. Trade with regions like Great Britain and Brazil have reemerged as an economic gain for North America.
In 2096, the Atlanta Crisis occurred. Nobody has an accurate record of the events that went down, but the result was a distinct split between the Northern and Southern United States. The peace-keeping organizations formed after 2032 were dissolved or reorganized to make way for organizations more well-equipped for waging war.
The United States of America controls the North and the People's Republic of Tidewater controls the South. After a series of raids and battles over the next 6 years, a distinct border between the two countries formed along the Halfmoon Creek in Georgia. Although the war has simmered down in the intervening years, there is a growing unrest in the country. Political leaders are being assassinated, trade organizations are having their merchandise sacked and destroyed, and people are going missing. Somewhere between 50% and 70% of the population in this area before the war has moved either further North or further South, depending on where they lived at the time of the Atlanta Crisis. Most homes and buildings are abandoned.
Not only is this area on the brink of conflict, it's also the home for countless bandits, mercenaries, and black market dealers. Only the most hardy of men and women still thrive along this river. The biggest city in North America at the moment, New Atlanta, lies just a few miles South of the Halfmoon Creek. A few rather large US cities, like Hanover and Wilmington, lie a few miles North from the river. Many black market deals and shady organizations reside in Hanover and New Atlanta.
