Teaching Philosophy

All children have the capacity to reach their full potential. My role is to facilitate their achievement by providing a safe, compassionate, inspiring, and supportive educational environment that meets their developmental needs at every stage, physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. My goal is to create an atmosphere where every student feels comfortable collaborating, asking questions and taking risks.

I believe that there are five keys to learning:

  • A teacher is a facilitator not a dictator. A teacher guides students through the learning process.

  • Learning is about getting your hands dirty and confronting what we don't know. It's how we grow.

  • There's no one-size-fits-all method of engaging students. Each one brings their own needs and backgrounds.

  • A classroom must be a safe container for students to feel comfortable sharing, asking, making mistakes, and learning.

  • We don't live in a static environment. We must embrace new technology and strategies to meet the needs of our students and communities. It doesn't mean we turn our backs on what we know works but it does mean we have to be open to change.
