CSCI 5622: Machine Learning - Project
[Spring 2023]
[Spring 2023]
This was my project for my machine learning class at CU to apply the machine learning models I learned more about. Centering a project on the topic of climate change was my way of finally "forcing myself" to learn more about climate change.
My own motivation for the topic: As someone with a background in science, I've always known the importance of climate change, but I've never felt like I knew enough about the details of climate change to make a convincing argument about the said topic (because I haven't studied much environmental science). So I thought, 'what better way to learn about something than to center a project around the topic?' Not only that, but I am genuinely interested in the idea of applying some machine-learning models to the topic because of the potential to notice patterns or details we might not have noticed otherwise.
However, I am NOT a climate scientist, nor do I have extensive experience or knowledge in that field. I did this project for my own benefit of pushing myself to learn more about the subject while also having a medium to apply ML models. I have no certainty that this is a good or credible source to make any justifiable conclusions.
