Through implementation, this new feature would simulate a pinning taskbar as seen on a Windows device for files/applications. The reason we addressed this issue was so we can devise a solution to improve access to the desired folders/apps more efficiently, without having to look through everything to discover file contents.
Here's how it works:
Once the folder or application is located, the user must right click on it to see a menu with options such as “open”, “rename”, “delete” etc.
Once this menu is on the screen, the option to “Pin to taskbar” should appear. Otherwise, the user may see a “more” option instead, that will lead them to “Pin to Taskbar” if they select more. Once the user has clicked to pin it, it should appear on the taskbar.
If the user wishes to unpin the folder/app from the taskbar, the user has to right click on the icon (from the taskbar) to select “Unpin from Taskbar”.
