From Maps tab, you can manage your downloaded map data. To download a new map, tap ADD MAP button.
You need to purchase a ticket beforehand to download maps.
You can see the Japan map which is separated in blocks. By selecting each area on the map, you can download the map of the area.
Tap Download Map button to download entire area of the map.
If you already know the name of the mountain. Input the name of the mountain in screen top box.
You'll see the name of the mountains.
Please tap to see the location on the map.
You can download the map which include the mountain you searched.
You can draw lines via Maps tab -> ADD MAP button -> DRAW ROUTE button.
You will see white circle and wine-red lines.
Please tap a white circle to choose a start point.
Then you will see the name of the point. If you want to set the point as a start point, tap "Set as Start" button.
Next, you can draw lines by tapping a white circle or wine-red lines.
The popup shows the name of the next point and estimated time.
You can fix the route by tapping "OK" button.
When you finished drawing all of lines, tap "OK" button which is located in very bottom of the screen.
Then you can download the route and map images.
If you download your planned route, you can use guide function and route deviation alert function.
If you already have a GPS log file or you can access it in your browser.
Choose "Open with Japan Alps Hiking Map" message. If you cannot see the message, check the file is GPX format (.gpx) file.
You can preview entire route. Green line shows the route of the GPX file.
By tapping Download Map and Route button, you can save the orange area of the map with green line route.
In Maps tab, you can see the menu of each map by LONG-PRESSING the item.
You can change the name of the map, retry download, or delete the map.
If you want to use downloaded map, select the map in Maps tab then tap "Start Hiking" button.
Or, you can start hiking just tapping "Start Hiking" button on the Start tab screen even if you haven't downloaded any map.
You'll see the map on the screen.
The red line in the map shows your GPS log. You also can see the GPS log in the elevation graph on top right on the screen.
Top left area shows elevation of current location, total time, and horizontal walking distance.
You also can control the button on the Map. From the right, show menu, move current location, toggle online/offline mode, toggle show/hide time labels.
Camera button can launch camera and you can take photo.
On bottom of the screen, you can see the buttons to control. The very left button is show note list. Center button is to stop the GPS logging. The very right one is take note button.
If you are walking with planned route. You can see the name of next point and estimated arrival time.
You can see the details of time by tapping "View Details" message.
If you tap menu button, you will see the settings menu.
The first one is map layer selection. You can select multiple types of maps.
The second is Hiker's Footprints which include other hiker's GPS log data.
Third is a switch to view or hide scale on the map.
Fourth is a switch to view or hide direction icon.
You can check the definition of symbols on the map.
You can import other planned route via "Import Route". You need to prepare route data beforehand.
You can send your current location (latitude and longitude) via email or messaging apps.
By tapping Map menu, you can change base map.
Default map is Japan map from Geospatial Information Authority of Japan (one of the Japanese national organization).
You also select Google map tile layers.
Google map tiles cannot download beforehand because of Google's license, but it is useful if your phone can connect cellular network like town walking or easy hiking.
You also change Footprints layer which is the group of GPS logs of other hikers. You can see the trails by tracing the orange-dotted lines.
[Notice] We cannot guarantees that the information is always accurate because it may include climbing routes, trails closed by the seasons, abolished roads etc.
By tapping elevation graph area, you'll see the detail of the elevation graph and information.
By tapping blue markers on the map, you can preview your notes and photos.
By tapping the pause button and stop button, you can finish hiking and save GPS logs.
From My Activity tag, you can see the your hiking history. By tapping each item, you can see the details of it.
On the activity detail screen, you can check your GPS log and your notes/photos.
By tapping top "GPS Log" area, you'll see the map of the hiking.
You also can delete each note or photo by long-pressing the item.
You can access app menu by tapping three line icon button which is located very right top of the screen.
You can enable or disable each of functions.
You also can set GPS accuracy, maximum scale of maps.
You can purchase ticket from app menu.
If you purchase two weeks ticket, you can download map images with no limit within two weeks.
Then after two weeks past, you cannot download additional map images.
Your downloaded images also will be deleted when three days after the expiration date.
