I have had this little mixer a few years and I knew it would have to be recapped someday. I found a few date markings inside the C279 and they point to year 1986 so it was about the time. First I recapped only the PSU board but then thought I'd better do it all. I have the schematics and went through all the tables that listed the electric components. I listed the capacitor values and quantities. Total of 195 electrolytic capacitors. There were a lot of 100uF 10V and 25V type caps so I decided to combine them and ordered 100uF 25V caps. Other significant quantity was 10uF caps of a few different voltage values. I ordered 10uF 50V caps.
I started the hard work and made it through in a couple of days. Revox being almost a Studer, I was expecting good quality PCB and easy work as I had good experience of the previously recapped Revox B77 reel to reel recorder. Unfortunately I was disappointed of how fragile the solder pads in the C279 were. They'd come off very easily and I had to do a fair amount of repair work on the input boards. Many of the repairs were not looking pretty but I'm happy I got all the boards working again. All in all, the noise level went down a bit which is always nice.
