About JAN HILLOV
I am a self‑taught digital artist working under the name JAN HILLOV, blending AI‑driven transformations of decades‑old drawings with the digital artworks I’ve created in recent years — a fusion of past and present that shapes my artistic direction.
I sold my first artwork while still in high school, and after many years of creating quietly in the background, I now focus on making contemporary art that is accessible to a wide audience.
As a teenager, I drew on anything I could find - often shaped by quiet, surreal scenes, with dreamlike structures and unexpected forms emerging from intuition. Even though I earned an A in drawing, life took me into physics and later telecommunications. Still, drawing never disappeared; it stayed with me, and over the years I contributed illustrations to professional projects, some of which found their way into commercial use.
My need for clarity, structure and visual balance gradually led me toward graphic design and a fascination with geometric forms. That influence is still visible in much of my work today, resulting in a series of digital artworks that combine structure, colour and a modern visual language.
When digital tools became widely available, they opened a new world for me — a way to turn ideas into digital artworks and to share them globally through print‑on‑demand channels.
My background in science and technology continues to inspire me. I enjoy exploring new methods and visual approaches. Today, I embrace the possibilities of Artificial Intelligence to breathe new life into black‑and‑white drawings I made decades ago. Blending these AI-driven transformations with the digital artworks I’ve created in recent years has become the core of my artistic direction - a fusion of past and present that feels both personal and new.
