About Us

In 2013 a family gathered to hold an inaugural golf tournament to honor the memory of Alejandro "Jando" Meza, a member of the 2004 Rio Rico High School Boys Basketball State Championship Team.  Funds raised were used to provide scholarships to student athletes as well as provide financial support for the RRHS Boys' and Girls' Basketball Teams.  Friends joined the Meza family endeavor to maintain and grow the annual event which now is able to provide 10-15 scholarships annually.  

In 2022, family and friends collaborated to formally launched the Jando Meza Rio Rico Alumni (JMRRA) Scholarship, incorporating with the Arizona Corporation Commission on April 25, 2023, establishing itself as 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.
