I am teaching undergraduate and graduate courses at the Business School and the Economics Department of the Universidad del Norte. Additionally, I have been teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs at TPM of TU Delft and in the PhD Program of Universidad Espiritu Santo de Guayaquil, Ecuador.
Introduction to Economics - an undergraduate course for Economics majors but also for Business and Law majors at the Universidad del Norte provides the students with a general overview on the topics in Economics.
During this course Economics undergraduate student develop their undergraduate thesis. As such, the course provides them with a general overview on how to conduct research and in personal feedback sessions - complementary to the supervision by their tutors - provides them with a insights on where to improve their thesis.
"Entrepreneurial Spirit" - an undergraduate course for students from all faculties at the Universidad del Norte which aims to promote entrepreneurial thinking among students. As a final project, students have to prepare and present during a campus-wide fair an idea with potential for entrepreneurship. The course is taught in Spanish.
"Evolution of Administrative Thinking" is an undergraduate course for students from the three B.A. at the Business School at the Universidad del Norte taught during their second semester. The aim of the course is to give the students an introduction to the great thinkers of business administration - starting with Henry Fayol, Frederick Taylor and Max Weber and ending with modern approaches to organizational theory such as Evoluationary Theory by Nelson and Winter. As a final project, students have to aproach a local business, undertake a small investigation where they identify an administrative problem and have to propose - theoretically founded - a solution to this problem. The course is taught in Spanish.
An advanced course for Public Accounting students specializing in "Organizations" this course, taught in English during their last semester, provides them with knowledge regarding Strategic Management and how the controlling systems of the firm have to be designed in order to be of help for it.
This course provides the PhD students of the Business School at Universidad del Norte with basic knowledge in predictive data analysis and data reduction. In order to do so, the course builds upon three different colums: providing the students with the basic theoretical knowledge regarding linear regression, logistic regression and multilevel regression analysis; giving the students an introduction in SPSS and STATA with a special focus on the techniques introduced; and lastly analyze together with the students - based on various research papers - with insights on how a research question is adequately connected with the appropiate estimation technique, how results are presented and how they should be interpreted. This course is co-taught course together with Luis Javier Sanchez and is taught in Spanish.
This course provides the PhD students of Economics at the Universidad del Norte with a general overview on Economics of Innovation. For this, the course introduces - via an extense discussion of selected scientific papers - the students with the topic. We have focused the course on five topics tailored towards the interests of the respective students: Organizational Determinants of Innovation; Innovation Systems; Work Organization and Education (and Labor Market); Financing of Innovation and Public Policies; Innovation, Business Cycles and (Regional) Growth.
