Who is in Need

There is currently no federal program that covers items like shampoo, soap, toothpaste, laundry detergent and other essentials. This is the often-overlooked side of poverty that plagues many Americans daily. Hygiene poverty is the hidden crisis millions of families across the country face. Imagine stretching your bottle of soap by adding water to get it to last another day. People take being clean for granted, but it's a luxury for those living in poverty. Poverty advocates often talk about the gap between food and hygiene products.

Men

Once upon a time, men who spent too long in front of a mirror grooming themselves were thought to be narcissistic, pompous or even decadent. It's obvious that public attitudes have come a long way and the changes today in personal grooming for men is a necessity and a definite desirable trait!

Hygiene is essential for everyone, regardless of gender. Men may have unique needs when it comes to their skin, such as facial hair management, specific skin conditions, or concerns related to shaving. Using skincare products formulated for men can help address these needs and promote healthy skin.

Women

Menstruating is a basic fact of human existence. Menstrual hygiene products are necessities, not luxuries, and should be treated as such. It’s an unfortunate reality for many that food stamps don’t cover hygiene supplies. "Unfortunately, food stamps and subsidies under the WIC (women, infants, and children) program that help with groceries do not cover menstrual products".
