Showing JIM: The James Foley Story in Class
LEFT: Collaborative Learning Project (Posters)
Here are some samples of the posters students created as a culminating activity for Unit 3 - JIM: The James Foley Story. Although the discussion cards, and conversation they elicit are the precursor to this assessment, they do not necessarily have to become a part of the poster. I borrowed this ideas from an amazing conference I went to in Cambridge, MA called Project Zero Classroom. Our group of teachers made one of these posters as a way to synthesize some of our learning at the end of the conference. The title of that activity was, My Story of Learning Thus Far, and I have used that interchangeably throughout some of my materials. The point of this project is to make student's learning visible to themselves, to their peers and to me, and in so doing deepen and extend all of our learning. If you would like to learn more about documentation of learning and visible thinking, I highly recommend the Project Zero Online Course, Making Learning Visible (HERE) and the book it is based on, Visible Learners: Promoting Reggio Inspired Approaches in All Schools.
