In today’s world, many children use technology. Some of them have a hard time not looking at their phones or tablets every few minutes. Teachers use technology as a common resource in the classroom. From using it to make a presentation, watch a movie, or even to play a game. As educators, it’s important to be able to know how to use this instructional technology, it’s something that can help your lesson, as well as keeping the students interested in learning. Below I have listed a few of my favorite instructional websites/apps, that will be greatly used in a classroom.
Google Slides is a favorite teaching tool for many educators, both in person and online. With a huge selection of free features and options, this powerhouse allows teachers to create dynamic, interactive presentations that really engage their students. Google Slides does have its limitations, but when used in the right way it can be a very powerful tool for education. The ability to store and share everything, online, makes for a really easy method to keep connected with students. The fact it can be viewed and collaborated on using most devices, even smartphones, makes it ideal for saving paper and staying connected to the class.
I have added a google slide template for anyone to use on the side.

It allows users to compile images and video with audio and transitions to create a simple movie. iMovie includes a collection of theme music and sound effects that can also be included in movie projects at no cost.
Teachers can support their younger students by allowing them to create a class movie summarizing a recent field trip with images and voiceovers recorded by the students.
EdPuzzle is the perfect tool for allowing students to watch and engage with videos while the teacher gathers data throughout the lesson. Teachers can also place restrictions on the video, so students can not fast forward through the video. With Edpuzzle, you can make any video your lesson in three easy steps: Find a video on YouTube, upload your own or re-use a video lesson created by another teacher. Then, edit the video to create your lesson. Record your voice to personalize it, and hold your students accountable by embedding questions in the video.
Flipgrid is a website and app that allows teachers to facilitate video discussions. Students are organized into groups and then given access to discussion topics. One of the main things going for Flipgrid is its ease of use. Teachers set up an account and create grids, which act as communities for students to work in. Within each grid the teacher creates prompts called topics, and students post video responses to the prompts and replies to each other’s videos. Most of the videos are quite short, just a minute or two long, and the tool is simple enough that kindergartners use it.
Video is an essential tool for modern teachers to increase learning in and out of the classroom. Teachers can use video to inform, educate, and, most importantly, engage with students at every age and skill level.Videos help increase participation and comprehension. It’s a good fit for today’s students who are both connected to and distracted by technology. It helps captivate students’ attention and boosts learning.creating and incorporating video for your students is easier than ever with no-hassle tools.
