The kingdom of Falmark's heir is the orphaned prince John-Luque Papove. Within a decade of his parents’ disappearance, Falmark has become a cesspool of spite, famine, and disorder. The natural resources have been tainted, the economy’s in shambles, and crime has become the kingdom’s national sport. Guided only by the prince’s dopey optimism and educated whims, those not living behind the capital’s gates are living a life of doom and gloom.
When the ambitions of a beastly warrior threaten Falmark’s way of life, Prince John-Luque is eager to lead the Log Drivers; his royal guard and closest friends; to fight for his kingdom’s safety… though perhaps this is only because fighting is the only thing John-Luque is good at, as whether he wins or loses, Falmark will continue to deteriorate until he learns how to face his political responsibilities as the next in line for the throne.
