My name is Jacob Brown, and I am a fifth-year PhD candidate at the University of Connecticut. My research area is numerical analysis, with a focus on finite element methods. In particular, I use B-spline approximation methods to obtain rigorous estimates for the Hausdorff dimensions of fractals produced by continued fraction iterated function systems. My advisor is Dmitriy Leykekhman. 

I am also very passionate about teaching. I have taught many courses at UConn, several as instructor of record. I have created a wide variety of materials to support my students' learning and actively engage them in problem-solving. During the 25-26 academic year, I was a Teaching Innovation Fellow for multivariable calculus.
