This is a little scratch animation where the teacher (owl) takes the penguins (students) through the makers' process, which is identifying problems to solve them through repeated tries and research.
Getting materials (5 minutes), after everybody is seated, tell two students from each group to get these materials from a table: Pompom, cardboard, pipe cleaners, aluminum foil, scissors, and something that they can measure with
Introduction (7 minutes), introduce the activity, rules, questions, and something they should focus on (failure, continuous trying, etc.). Show them examples of what a tower should look like. Also introduce them to the other choices of materials they have on a different table (cardboard, paper, color, etc.)
Brainstorming (8 minutes), the children should have been guided in the introduction that they can either make their tower beautiful or tall. These ten minutes allow the children to come up with ideas. Make sure no ideas are discouraged.Â
Getting Materials and Building (25 minutes), the children will now get materials that are dependent upon their idea (Paper, tape, recyclables, color, etc.) and build their tower, encourage them to finish and try to compare with other groups and take ideas to make it better
Conclusion (10 minutes), wrap everything up with final measurements, takeaways, and encourage students to explain what they learned to the whole class
