Inmates use "commissary" money to buy things like snacks, clothing items, pencils, paper, stamps, and even phone time.
How to add money to a commissary account?
- At George W. Hill, the two machines in the main visiting lobby can be used to add money to inmates' commissary or phone accounts. The machines take cash. There is a fee of about $3 for $100. (fees vary depending on the amount added).
- The prison accepts money orders if they are mailed with the inmate's name and number to the main address. (Checks and cash are not accepted by mail.)
- The Connect Network app (Android and iPhone) can be used to add money to the commissary (and phone) accounts. The fee for commissary is $5.50 for $100 (fees vary depending on the amount added).
- The Connect Network website can also be used. The fee for commissary is $5.50 for $100 (fees vary depending on the amount added). For some reason, the website uses the term "Trust Fund."
Inmates in the DUI and some other units are allowed to use vending machines. Visitors can bring rolls of quarters. (The Wawa on Route 1 in Glen Mills usually has rolls of quarters available.)
