I am an Associate Professor with IMT-Atlantique in France at the Department of Mathematical and Electrical Engineering and an Architecture-Algorithm-Interaction (2AI) team member. I was a Research and Development Engineer with IMT-Atlantique in France, working on efficient wireless sensor networks for precision agriculture and machine learning with intelligent reflecting surfaces. In France, I won the MSCA-BIENVENUE Fellowship grant, with which I worked on low-complexity and efficient wireless communication IoT networks for Precision Agriculture from 2024 to 2025. I won the 2023/2024 MSCA-PF research grant to work on symbiotic radio for ultra-dense networks for two years, from 2025 to 2026, but it was not initiated or completed due to acquiring a permanent position at IMT Atlantique, Brest. My research interests are in (i) combining digital communication and embedded systems applications to solve societal problems, (ii) wireless information and power transfer communication systems (WIPT), (iii) Symbiotic Cognitive Internet-of-things networks (IoTN), terrestrial and non-terrestrial communication, and (iv) Machine learning based and model based novel technologies in next-generation wireless communication systems. I also do applied research on wireless communication theories, technologies, and techniques in eradicating societal problems in farming, healthcare, environmental and climate concerns, and industry.
Derek Kwaku Pobi Asiedu received a PhD and M.Sc. in Electronic Engineering at Hanbat National University (HBNU), South Korea, in 2019 and 2017, respectively. My B.Sc was in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Ghana, Ghana 2011. From September 2019 to December 2020, I was a Postdoctoral fellow with the Wireless Intelligent Systems Laboratory (WiSL) at HBNU. In 2021, I became a research assistant professor at the Seoul National University of Science and Technology (SeoulTech), South Korea, after winning the SeoulTech Postdoctoral Fellowship. I joined IMT-Atlantique as a postdoctoral and MSCA fellow, working on an MSCA-Cofund grant and later an MSCA-PF grant. I acquired a tenure track position in IMT-Atlantique as an associate professor in 2024.
