Scenario: Corporate Training: You've been appointed as the new VP of Training for a software company with offices in North America. The training department has seen a decline in results, and employee surveys indicate dissatisfaction with current training techniques. You're tasked with creating an online presentation to explain the changes you'll make. You plan to use the Community of Inquiry framework to restructure training modules and incorporate one or two learning theories into the new approach.

1. Training time has increased from one week in person to four weeks with a lot of book work.
2. There are inconsistencies between the lesson plans and the training delivery.
3. The training materials are disorganized, and it’s hard to keep track of all the updates.
4. Delivery is primarily done through Teams and independent study. We really need more engaging and interactive methods.
5. The training binder is huge, with over 300 slides, and the agenda is down from six weeks to four.
6. The training is perceived as basic and boring, and the information overload is leading to very low retention.
In general, I think it would help if the content and delivery of training were more engaging, interactive, and hands-on.
Also, I would like to see some increase in both the retention rate of information and the number of people who remain in the training program long enough to complete it.
Currently, there is a lack of consistency in our training approach. I’d like to correct that.
I would like to ensure that any training we create is practical and helps people modify their behaviors.
There isn't a clearly defined training map that shows the direction we're going. I believe that we should create one.
I'd like to have the capability to obtain feedback from trainees and establish two-way communication with them.
And finally, I want to look at the content we're working with, streamline it, put emphasis on it, and perhaps make use of tools such as job aids, flyers, posters, flowcharts, and infographics as a means of communication.
