Hello, my name is Jacob McCartney, and in my podcast I discuss the gender pay gap, and explore the factors that contribute to it. I go over literature that provides a macroscopic perspective on the gender pay gap, bringing you outside of your small, limited viewpoint. The idea that a woman makes seventy-five cents for every dollar a man makes seems wrong, but in my podcast I discuss the reasons for this commonly perceived injustice. I mention different articles which break down the gender pay gap into its primary factors, and I discuss the conclusions that the authors made with their research. These factors include but are not limited to: experience/education, occupational choice, work hours, responsibilities, and discrimination. All of these account for a portion of the gender pay gap. However, the magnitude to which they each affect the gap may surprise you. In my podcast, I dive deep into the true numerical statistics of why women get paid less than men, so thank you for tuning in! If there is anyone you know who wants to learn more about the gender wage gap, feel free to show them my page.
