Introduction

How might we mitigate the effects of vaping? In our 8th inquiry we will be talking to you about vaping on how it can affect you in many ways. Over the past three weeks of our investigating and researching we have found the best solution for our inquiry.

What are vaping & the risks of vaping

Vaping was first discovered 2003 by a Chinese pharmacist Hon Lik. Why did he invent vaping, research says that he used to smoke 3 packs of cigarettes in one day. Hon wanted to quit so he invented E-cigarettes. He invented it so it could help him quit smoking.

There are major effects that will happen to a person vaping or smoking on a daily basis. Both vaping and smoking provide nicotine, nicotine is what makes it so addicting to people to vape. When you’re vaping you’ll start to feel some side effects, such as coughing, dry mouth, shortness of breath, mouth and throat irritations, and lastly headaches. Vaping is just smoking flavoured liquid that turns into vapour from a little pen. Smoking contains little solid particles including phenols, nicotine, and naphthalene.

Why do people start vaping

There could be lots of reasons why people could start vaping. One reason why most teenagers start to vape is because they get peer pressured into it by their friends. Lots of people nowadays always get peer pressured into doing things that are bad. People are always scared to say no to peer pressure but always tend to do it so they look cool in front of their mates. Teenagers tend to do bad things which end up in a lot of trouble.

Nicotine, nicotine is what makes vaping and smoking so addictive that is why so many teenagers are addicted to vaping, nicotine can be changed into different levels, people love to get headspins. How do you get headspins? On a normal pen there are levels of nicotine between 0 to 60. People like to turn up the nicotine levels and get headspins while vaping. The Reason why it is so hard to get off vaping is because of nicotine and the cause of peer pressure. Jack and I have come up with a way to get rid of these habits.

How do we stop vaping in schools?

Kids tend to go to school and vape in their school toilets. Over the years there has been a big spike of teenagers that have used vapes inside and out of school. Vaping has become a huge effect in the youth community kids holding vapes in their hands at a young age. There have been kids that have dropped the ball and their bright future, just to turn to vaping, smoking, and more bad things that’ll lead their lives into more bad things.

Let’s take TBC as an example, Mr Acherman has taken over one hundred vapes in over a year. Students tend to not listen and still vape in school bathrooms without the teachers knowing. Vaping is harder to control than smoking, kids are vaping at home and out in the streets with or without parents knowing.

What should retailers do

Jack and I researched what retailers can do about selling vapes to underaed children. But we have found nothing good that retailers can do to not sell vapes to underaged childerns. So because we couldn’t find what we needed, we did the job ourselves. As we were thinking about this there was only one thing we could think of and that was for the retailer to ask the buyer for an ID or ask the buyer who they are buying the vape for.

What has already been done

Nothing much has been done for vaping, people that smoke tend to change to vaping from websites and tv ads that say they are less harmful. Quitting smoking can be tough. Vaping is a way to quit cigarettes by getting nicotine with fewer toxins that come from burning tobacco, you get to stay social, spend less, and once you've quit smoking you'll feel better for it. Although vapings much less harmful than smoking, it's not harmless. So you should plan to eventually quit vaping too. It is an addictive thing that is pretty hard to stop, especially if people have gone from smoking a cigarette to smoking a vape.

Best solution and why

Our best solution was a tough one. We thought about it and we just thought of chucking away the vape after a while of using it. It might be a hard time trying to forget about that vape but once you get used to having no vape you’ll be able to move on from smoking and vaping. We thought very hard on our best solution because it could help with others and it could take time for others to get rid of that habit about smoking and vaping.

Conclusion

In conclusion we thought we did alright in our inquiry despite I ( Joe ) all the work. But in the weeks of researching the evolution of vaping we have learnt a thing or two. We have experienced what happens to a person that smokes and to a person that vapes. We both hope to improve in our next inquiry thank you.
